Why you, and not any other software service provider? Any company searching for a new business partner asks this question. We hear it during our meetings with clients. We know what they are expecting: rational arguments proving that cooperation with us is safe, that we understand their business challenges, and have a solution for them.

To what our clients pay the biggest attention, and which of their needs can we satisfy better, than our competitors?

To put ourselves into our client’s shoes

Projects are only seemingly technological. Technology is just a layer that has a deeper purpose – to satisfy a certain shortage: a business, image, or sales one. At the beginning of a cooperation with the client, even before we shake hands, we are trying to clearly define those shortages. If we are not able to imagine the client’s problem, define their needs, or understand their business environment, we simply do not undertake the project.

You could think that it is a standard approach, adopted by most innovative software development companies. But in reality, it is always worth to check what methods the potential business partner uses. At Hicron Software House we use the Design Thinking method – our team members are certified in this area. We also carry out specialized workshops for our clients (Great Square). During the meeting, we find the problem and break it down into components in four different areas.

Knowing the technology, knowing how to use it, having experience in conducting projects – it is all very important. But only the combination of this competence (at a high level) with a thorough understanding of the business problem ensures successful cooperation.

Our work is based only on the business requirements, which determine the technologies we use. We select the ones that best meet the client’s needs out of the technologies the team is familiar with.

Experience as Nearshoring Partner

The coronavirus pandemic has forced many industries to work remotely. When it comes to the IT industry, remote work has been an everyday reality in Central and Eastern European countries for years. At the same time those markets that always preferred local providers, had to learn it almost from scratch.

Today, both clients and IT Partners must be ready to work remotely, regardless of whether their offices are located 2 or 2 000 km from each other. If a company lacks knowledge and habits in managing a remote team, its motivation and communication – that can hinder the project.

You should always check how your potential partner handles working remotely. What methods do they use, what tools? It matters especially in the area of communicating problems or in case of joining the team that has before worked together in the office. It is very hard to assess soft skills without knowing the partner, so ask them to present references.

All projects that we conducted as we carried out mostly remotely. Our preferred method is a hybrid: a combination of meeting in person (of course when possible) with remote project work. We also cope perfectly with full remote work. What proves it is the fact that we carried projects out on different continents and in different time zones (Europe, Australia, USA). We have offices in several places around the world and a highly flexible approach to the workplace – that makes it easier for us.

It takes great skill to combine excellent code with a perfect and functional interface. That is why we regard every project as a whole: front-end and back-end have to go hand in hand. We care about every stage of application development and conduct thorough tests.

Organizational maturity

Organizational maturity is an important element, regardless of whether if you expect the company to be your partner or only your provider.

  • Does the company provide internal knowledge transfer?
  • Is the work carried on even if someone is suddenly absent?
  • Who is responsible for internal resource planning for the project?
  • How does the communication – internal and external, with the client – look like?
  • Does the company follow the “single point of contact” rule?
  • What does the company do to nurture the relationship with the client?
  • What is the preferred way to start the project?
  • What level of documentation does the company guarantee?

Answers to those questions give you an image of the organizational maturity of the considered company.

At , we have our own developed organizational standards, adapted to the types of projects we conduct. Ask us about this, and any other aspect of the potential cooperation!

The IT system supporting the work of retail outlets is the foundation of our business. The ability to optimize and adapt it to the needs of all entities in the PSA Group is of strategic importance and we consider it a step into the future. This project is a huge challenge: not only for us in terms of organization, but also for our partners – including Hicron – in terms of adapting the system to the needs and business models of PSA. Cooperation with Hicron consultants, taking into account their competences in the field of programming and processes specific to the automotive sector, gave us many reasons to be satisfied.
