Complex periodic planning and distribution processes streamlined thanks to the capabilities of Azure Cloud.

  • An internal web application for scheduling and distributing new sports cars between dealers in the U.S. and Canada shaped by .NET & Angular. Project Management, Business Analysis, Architecture Development, & QA at its finest.

Explore the case of digitization and automation of processes that were once reliant on Excel.

Challenges

  • The client, one of the automotive giants, needed a new opening for an existing solution.
  • They had an Excel-based allocation application.
  • The application was using algorithms that would help distribute the delivery of cars to given areas fairly and understandably for dealers.
  • The client relied on Excel files supported by a large number of algorithms that did not fully back up the execution of the process.
  • Over time, the existing application had become difficult to maintain, leading to poor performance.
  • The whole process was based on an ad hoc solution rather than usability and streamlined execution of the business goal.

Our Approach

  • Hicron Software House team evaluated the existing solution and proposed a brand-new system for collecting and analyzing algorithms.
  • We slimmed down the existing stack to only the algorithms used by clients and excluded data irrelevant to the process.
  • The most important data was migrated from the old system to the new cloud-based model. We hosted the new system in the cloud, Azure.
  • We developed a new user interface that’s both intuitive and user-friendly, aligning with the business objectives and user experience.

Outcomes

Our client benefits from a streamlined and more performant application, which serves more than 200 dealers in the U.S., now planning to launch in Canada as well.

After the upgrade, the application became very intuitive.

Moving from Excel files to a custom solution made the allocation process more accurate.

The migration of the solution to the cloud gave great responsiveness to the system.

Allocation is performed on a monthly basis.
A 20-minute process now happens in seconds.

Intuitive UI has made the application more user-friendly.

Technologies we used

.Net Core 3.0, Angular, Entity Framework, SQL Server, Azure: Web & SQL, SSO

The IT system supporting the work of retail outlets is the foundation of our business. The ability to optimize and adapt it to the needs of all entities in the PSA Group is of strategic importance and we consider it a step into the future. This project is a huge challenge: not only for us in terms of organization, but also for our partners – including Hicron – in terms of adapting the system to the needs and business models of PSA. Cooperation with Hicron consultants, taking into account their competences in the field of programming and processes specific to the automotive sector, gave us many reasons to be satisfied.
